Stop 1 - Girl Drinking Peppermint Tea

Seek the girl drinking peppermint tea

Clue 1: On the corner of Centre place and Flinders lane

It’s always a pleasure stumbling upon hidden street art pieces whilst walking the streets because they are usually easy to miss if you are in a hurry. This particular piece is almost impossible to find unless you are looking at the loading sign because it is so high up and usually out of most people’s line of vision. The image of the little girl sitting on the ground drinking a cup of tea reminds us of what it was like to be a kid and the sense of wonderment that slowly leaves us, as we grow older.

Be Free uses the whimsical, playful imagery of young girls to convey her message to everyone regardless of gender or culture. This makes her work very accessible, as it doesn’t have any hidden meanings and just urges you to ask questions. She plays with the scales of her paste-‐ups some life-‐size and some so miniature you really have to go on a scavenger hunt.
