Stop 1 – Climbing over Hosier Lane - Urban Exploration
Text
The practice of urban exploration is a loose term discovery and exploration of unseen parts of the built environment (Deyo and Leibowitz, 2003; Garrett, 2010a; Ninjalicious, 2005; Rapp, 2010), locating derelict and disused sites seeking to reinvigorate them (Maddern, 2008).
Urban exploitation often challenges the capitalist uses of the city and the throw away society that emerges whereby spaces are constantly made and destroyed. This walled of area of Rutledge Lane is beyond the permitted regions where street art can ‘legally’ be carried out. Why is it that only some public space is permitted your access?
