Stop 3: The Queen Street Massacre

On the morning of December 8 1987, Frank Vitkovic entered the Australia Post offices on Queen Street and began shooting people at random, killing 8 people. The injured office workers managed to ambush Vitkovic, stashing his shotgun in an office refrigerator. Vitkovic managed to escape, and run to a shot-out window, jumping from the 11th story to his death. This was henceforth known as the Queen Street Massacre, and is etched into the memory of Melburnians working in the CBD at the time.

Where burgers are all the rave
The water nymph doth bathe
She waits off the beaten track
With water running down her back.
