The CBD is shit

This piece is a bit of a collage. The cat is actually painted on top of wheat pasted comics that I think were printed. The bird on the side of the cat is echoed throughout this alley way. I enjoy the two animals next to each other, and find myself wondering if they are by the same artist. The cat is saying “The CBD is shit”, which is obviously ironic because the cat is in CBD. I find that this type of irony is frequent in Melbourne’s street art. Almost as if the artist is both complaining about the city and trying to offer a solution by covering the foundation of the buildings with his own street art. The color blue and the bird make me believe that this artist is male, however there is no way to know which is something I really like about street art.
