Final Stop

The last stop on our tour I would recommend jumping on the 86 tram as it is just before stop 20 (easey street) in an alleyway and walking could take a little while (although there are many pieces of beautiful street art to view on the way.) We can see a stencil piece of a Native American in the classic style sitting with a sad yet proud face with birds flying overhead. Whilst this isn’t an indigenous Australian the message is clearly that of native people in sadness over their corrupted lands. The central theme of a land being colonised by powerful nations is the indigenous population will suffer. The indigenous populations of Australia, the Americas, South eastern Asia and many more all suffered at the hands of colonising powers. Whether it was by massive population deficit from disease and systematic genocide or environmental degradation through resource acquisition without reimbursement the native population rarely get a good deal.
